Underbelly is a family. And when anyone in the Underbelly family needs help, we throw a party and raise money.
On May 1, we're turning Underbelly into Chris Shepherd's Korean Chicken Dinner House, inspired by Babe's Chicken Dinner House in Roanoke, Texas. (On a side note, if you haven't been to Babe's, add it to your bucket list. According to Chris, it's one of the only reasons to visit the DFW area. And only visit the original).
The event will celebrate the life of our pastry chef Victoria Dearmond's closest friend Emily Rhodes Beard and will raise money to pay off her remaining medical bills. Our customers will likely remember when Victoria shaved her head in support of Emily's treatment (she did this three times!) and was with her every step of the way. Emily was Victoria's family, which means she was Underbelly's family. And we're going to throw a party to help ease her family's burden as best as we can.
So...back to Chris Shepherd's Korean Chicken Dinner House and what you need to know. Doors open at 11am, and guests will be seated at large community tables. You have two options: Korean Fried Chicken or Ssamjang-Crusted Smoked Short Ribs. Both come with all the fixings: Kimchi slaw, Korean macaroni salad and Korean-style green salad. $45 per person.
